The Old Vicarage
Located in the heart of Kettering, this spacious Victorian vicarage had been vacant for years before its new owners took on a full refurbishment. Their vision was to preserve the home’s traditional look while improving the energy performance and overall security. However, the original timber box sash windows presented challenges, as they required extensive repairs and ongoing maintenance.
The property consisted of 30 original timber sash windows and a large bay to the rear of the property, so ongoing maintenance was an issue that the homeowners wanted to avoid.
While exploring an alternative, the homeowners discovered our Ultimate Rose sash windows. Although UPVC wasn’t their first thought, Ultimate Rose quickly proved to be the ideal solution. These windows feature the narrowest sightlines on the market, with 35mm mid-rails for an authentic look. They are also double-glazed for A-rated thermal efficiency, and the UPVC construction provides a low-maintenance, durable finish.
To further enhance security, this project included Secured By Design accreditation, a police-backed standard, giving the homeowners peace of mind. The new windows also feature a Victorian astragal bar layout, closely matching the home’s original style, along with a woodgrain-textured finish in a warm white tone.
